This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Vancouver Folk Music Festival, and to mark the occasion, organizers have lifted the curtain on a lineup that promises to be one of the fest's most exciting, rich and musically diverse to date.

Taking place at Jericho Beach Park from July 13 to 16, this year's festival features performances from Billy Bragg and Joe Henry, Shawn Colvin, Kathleen Edwards, Rhiannon Giddens, John K. Samson and the Winter Wheat, Jim Bryson, Barenaked Ladies, Ferron, the Belle Game, Roy Forbes, Alpha Ya Ya Diallo, Si Kahn, Marlon Williams, Emmanuel Jal, Grace Petrie and more.

A total of around 60 acts with roots in 18 countries, 10 states and eight provinces will be on hand to perform. You can find a complete lineup breakdown here.

The festival opens July 13 with a free concert, with details to be announced.
