After building a following via singles like their electro-pop anthem "Best of Everything," Kamloops, BC quartet Van Damsel have announced they'll be compiling that track and more for their first-ever full-length release. Their self-titled debut drops as an independent release on April 22.
The 11-song set follows the band's 2013 EP, The Sunshine, Girl and was tracked at Vancouver's Echoplant Studios with producer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Paper Moon). In addition to the band's general blurring of glossed-up synth sounds and indie rock, a press release notes that elements of EDM, hip-hop and new wave have crept into this latest song cycle as well.
"This LP represents our broader palette, incorporating more influences than we have in the past," drummer Matthew Barron said in a statement.
While the band are named after a track from tech-metal wizards Dillinger Escape Plan's Miss Machine LP, Van Damsel are described as fitting in the same wheelhouse as Phoenix, the 1975 and LCD Soundsystem. A stream of Van Damsel's 2015-launched "Best of Everything" can be found below.
The band have also unveiled a batch of cross-Canada dates throughout the spring. Though the specifics on a few venues have yet to be revealed, you'll find the schedule beneath the album info.
