Vampire Weekend haven't released any new music since that whole Contra cover photo mess. While we wait for official news as to what the band will be up to next, bassist Chris Baio is preparing to release a solo EP.
Entitled Sunburn, this three-song EP will be released under the four-stringer's DJ alias, Baio. It will arrive on May 21 in the UK through Greco-Roman. A North American release will likely follow the day after.
For a taste of Baio's electro-driven solo work, scroll to the bottom of the page to hear "Tanto," featuring Matias Aguayo. This dancefloor-oriented, tropical-tinged banger is the natural extension of the sunny island sounds that Vampire Weekend explored on Contra.
This spring, Baio will be embarking on a mini-tour of DJ sets. The five-show outing (which includes two gigs in one day in London, UK) features a Canadian appearance at Toronto's Hoxton. See the schedule below the track.
