Vampire Weekend Drummer Hit By Car
Vampire Weekend’s Chris Thompson was struck down by a car while in London Friday night, the NME has reported.

The drummer was outside of London’s Hoxton Hotel at approximately 12:30 a.m. GMT when he was involved in the collision, in which he reportedly sustained a head injury. The magazine has said that a "puddle of blood” was left at the scene where Thompson was hit, and that his coat left by the side of the road was caked "in what looked like blood.”

An ambulance was reportedly called to the hotel in West London where he received treatment before being taken to Royal London Hospital. Thompson had earlier been attending the Shockwaves NME Awards before the accident.

A spokesperson for the band reported later to the British music paper, updating Thompson’s condition, saying he was awake in the morning and hoping to be discharged this afternoon.

Earlier this week, his New York band had cancelled the remaining two dates of their UK tour due to keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij’s gastric infection.
