Published Jul 13, 2012It's been two-and-a-half years since Vampire Weekend issued their poppy sophomore set Contra, and fans are no doubt hungry for some new tunes. Last month, singer/guitarist Ezra Koening hinted that "80 per cent" of the troupe's new album has been written, and last night (July 12), Vampire Weekend premiered one of those tracks in concert.
A video of the succinctly and hopefully temporarily titled "New Song #2" (that's what it's called on the setlist) has surfaced form last night's performance at Cleveland's House of Blues, their first show since 2010. The song has Koening enthusiastically strumming an acoustic guitar and singing sweetly over a steady kick drum beat. When not keying out a melody on his Korg, Rostam Batmanglij supports the bandleader with a falsetto vocal line. You can catch it all down below.
