Update: Stones Roses Not Reforming

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Mar 17, 2009

As we suspected, there will be no Stone Roses reunion.

Only a few hours after the internet lit up with reports that the legendary Madchester act would reform, Ian Brown's publicist has stepped in to set the record straight, denying that the front-man has any involvement in a Stone Roses reunion tour.

While speaking to the Daily Mail, Brown's publicist said: "We know nothing about a reunion. Ian is working on his new studio album, which is due out later this year."

This flat-out denial follows a story published earlier today by the Daily Mirror, which reported that the Stone Roses would embark on a 21-date tour and possibly play Coachella. "It's taken a lot of time to get Ian to agree but he's finally signed on the dotted line," the Mirror quoted an unnamed source as saying. "The rest of the band were really up for it, especially when they realised the amount of money on the table."

Seriously, the only thing surprising about this whole thing is that the denial took a few hours to come down, instead of a few seconds.
