After stealing headlines thanks to their $1.7 million Sony contract, the tween/teen trio of Unlocking the Truth are aiming for hearts and headbangs. Yes, they top out at 13 years old, but their professionalism belies their youth; this Brooklyn band play tighter than some bands more than three times their senior.

In contrast with the Times Square videos that have been making the rounds, Unlocking the Truth now have vocals, with guitarist Malcolm Brickhouse taking on the role and delivering a performance that, while not as impressive as their prodigious playing, fits the music well.

The music itself is straight-up metal, with no particular niche sticking to the young band while they search for their own identity in a sea of groups who've had much longer to find theirs (and still often don't). Ultimately, if you were hoping to unlock the truth about them, here it is: these kids are the real deal.
