Union Duke

'Cash & Carry' (album stream)

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 17, 2014

Rootsy Toronto quintet Union Duke are set to drop their new folk-inflected indie LP Cash & Carry on June 24. Rather than make you wait, however, you can stream the 12-song LP in all of its banjo-pluckin' glory now.

The album, which marks the band's first since 2013's Bandits & Bridges, has earned its rustic folk stamp — after all, it was tracked within a cabin up "in the Ontario woods." Themes include "love, loss, and a cheap shirt," all communicated via "entwining rambling banjos, soaring vocal harmonies, chicken-picken' electric guitars and a fast driving, heel-stomping beat."

Cash & Carry can be streamed in full below. The band will also celebrate its release with a string of tour dates, which can be viewed below.
