Unearthed Thin Lizzy Tapes Could Offer 700 New Songs
Here's news that's sure to excite classic rock completists out there: a lost collection of unreleased Thin Lizzy tapes thought to be long gone has recently resurfaced, reportedly offering upwards of 700 new and unreleased tunes from the Irish rock group. The boys are back in town, indeed.

As Prefix reports, the collection of 150 tapes, which had been given to a friend of band leader Phil Lynott before he died in 1986, contains an unspecified number of previously unreleased tunes, as well as lots of alternate takes and outtakes, recorded between 1971 and 1981. After rediscovering the material, the friend passed along the tunes to Universal.

It's unclear at this point exactly what the imprint will do with such a mammoth load of twin guitar-touched material, but Universal is reportedly expected to release a Thin Lizzy box set sometime this year featuring a host of choice cuts culled from the tapes.
