Unearth

Alive From The Apocalypse

This two-disc DVD package courtesy of Unearth is no glorious nightmare. One of the discs boasts 11 live songs performed to a sold out crowd at Pomona, CA’s Glasshouse, featuring a nice mix of The Oncoming Storm and III: In The Eyes Of Fire that’s simply outdone by the companion disc, which documents Unearth’s transformation from a metalcore band to the riff-heavy metal onslaught they are today. It depicts the band at their beginnings as average boys with New England accents who’ve a love for hardcore trying to put all the pieces in their proper places to create their ideal band. Although the band endured numerous line-up changes, they found times when things were stable enough to release their first EP, The Stings Of Conscience, and get signed to Metal Blade. This band have done an insane amount of touring throughout the world, mostly Europe, and have shared stages with such genre giants as Pantera, Slayer, Dimmu Borgir and Slipknot. With the aid of members from Poison The Well, Killswitch Engage, Every Time I Die, Brian Slagel and Mike Faley of Metal Blade Records, this documentary helps inform as to what these East coast, 40 guzzling freaks are really like: fun loving, drunken metal heads. This double disc set is a great monument to a band that can shred beer bongs like they do guitars, and a must for any fan of the band.
