Ultraísta Cancel Dates Including Toronto Show, Cite "Family Emergency"

We've got some bad news for anyone hoping to catch Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich performing with his new project Ultraísta in the coming days: the band have cancelled a few gigs including an appearance in Toronto.

They have axed tonight's show (January 23) in Philadelphia, plus gigs in Chicago (January 25) and Toronto (January 26). A brief note posted on Ultraísta's website explains, "Due to a family emergency, one of the band has had to fly home."

The Philly show, which is with Prefuse 73, will be replaced by a DJ set from band members Nigel Godrich and Laura Bettinson, while Joey Waronker will be absent.

The full band are currently scheduled to resume playing shows on January 28 in Brooklyn. Aside from the Philadelphia DJ set, there's no indication that Ultraísta have any plans to make up the axed shows, which appear to have been canceled outright rather than postponed.

UPDATE: Ultraísta announced on Twitter that Joey Waronker had to return home because his wife was giving birth. The band will reschedule the shows soon.
