U2 Shed Some Light On Songs of Ascent

U2 Shed Some Light On Songs of Ascent
Only a day has passed since the release of U2's No Line on the Horizon but already the band have revealed the title of its follow-up. According to front-man Bono, the band's next record will be entitled Songs of Ascent and should arrive before the year's end, with the first single being Horizon outtake "Every Breaking Wave."

While talking to Rolling Stone, Bono said Songs of Ascent would be a "sister release" to Horizon, calling it "a Zooropa to its Achtung Baby."

"We're making a kind of heartbreaker, a meditative, reflective piece of work, but not indulgent," Bono said of Songs of Ascent. "It will all have a clear mood, like [Miles Davis's] Kind of Blue. Or [John Coltrane's] A Love Supreme would be a point of reference, for the space it occupies in people's lives, which is to say, with that album, I almost take my shoes off to listen to it."

U2 have yet to announce any tour dates in support of Horizon but Bono said the band plan to hit the road in "early summer."
