Tyson & the Trepids

'130 King' (EP stream)

Although the members of Tyson & the Trepids have their fingerprints all over a number of wide-ranging musical projects (Catlantis, Hinindar, Esther Grey), they've managed to find the time for a live reunion. The band have even put together a new EP, titled 130 King, and Exclaim! has your first listen to the new set of songs right here.

The poppy Waterloo, ON band formed back in the early aughts under the leadership of Tyson Brinacombe, with his bandmates consisting of the inhabitants of "Trepid House" — a now-defunct house located at (you guessed it!) 130 King St. in their hometown.

The new EP pays homage to the former address and features songs from the band's archives that have been recently revisited and reworked with the added bonuses of extra musical experience and a sense of nostalgia. According to a press release, the set showcases "quirky love songs and ridiculous summery anthems," making it the perfect soundtrack for "warmer weather, bike rides and falling for someone just because."

The band will be taking the new material to the stage at Guelph, ON's Kazoo! Fest on April 9. To tide you over until then, give 130 King a spin in the player below.
