Tycho Announce New Album 'Weather'

After sharing new song "Easy" last month, Tycho have revealed the details behind a new full-length album.

Titled Weather, the effort arrives July 12 through Mom + Pop/Ninja Tune. Eight tracks in length, the album marks the first time the San Francisco group have included vocal-led tracks. Five of Weather's songs feature vocals from vocalist Saint Sinner (a.k.a. Hannah Cottrell).

"When setting out to record Weather, I wanted to finally fulfill what had been a vision of mine since the beginning: to incorporate the most organic instrument of all, the human voice," Tycho's Scott Hansen explained in a statement. "I met Hannah Cottrell, and the vocal component of the album immediately came into focus. Our initial sessions were incredibly productive and I strongly identified with the imagery in her lyrics. Her vision folded effortlessly into mine and her voice integrated seamlessly into the sonic landscape, opening new spaces for me as a songwriter and producer."

Following "Easy" is the Cottrell-assisted single "Pink & Blue," which arrives alongside a video directed by Chloe Corner. Cottrell, who also stars in the clip, delved deeper into her lyrics in a statement:

The lines, "Oh, pink and blue, you know I look good on you," originally stemmed from when I was romantically involved with a man and a woman simultaneously, for the first time in my life. It was a defining moment for me. I went from being a young religious kid who thought she would marry a man to a young woman who realized her love for women. "Pink & Blue" is a love song to no one, to everyone, and to myself. It's a sweet reminder to all lovers to hold onto their love with open arms; to be fearless about any type of love and to be fearless about losing their love. Love is never lost.

In addition to the album announcement, Tycho have mapped out a North American tour for September, which includes a lone Canadian stop at Toronto's Sony Centre on September 16. You can find a complete itinerary below.
