Ty Segall Announces Live Album, Plays Montreal and Hamilton on Upcoming Tour

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 7, 2011

Californian garage rocker Ty Segall capped his prolific run of albums with the release of Melted last year. The record was his strongest statement yet, matching the ideal amount of production fuzz with Segall's energetic songwriting. Still, there's no question that Segall is best enjoyed in person, which is why we're happy to report an upcoming live album and North American tour.

The record is called Live in Aisle 5 and was recorded at a sold-out San Francisco show to celebrate Southpaw Records' one-year anniversary back in the summer of 2010. The performance included ten of Segall's old songs, one new track and covers of G.G. Allin's "Don't Talk to Me" and the Vibrators' "Baby Baby Baby." The album was recorded by Eric Bauer, who previously worked with Segall on Melted.

Live in Aisle 5 is vinyl-only and will be limited to 1,000 copies, including 200 pressed on coloured vinyl. The album is expected to ship on January 31 and can be pre-ordered here. A live version of "Skin" can be streamed below.

In addition to the live album, Segall will also be playing live on a massive North American tour that kicks off in Sacramento on January 18, seeing the rocker bring his party punk through the continent, including Canadian dates in Montreal, QC and Hamilton, ON. All dates are available below.
