In what will undoubtedly become the greatest Ian McKellen/Patrick Stewart buddy comedy of all time, two elderly men escaped their nursing home to attend Germany's legendary Wacken Open Air metal festival over the weekend.

On Friday (August 3), two elderly men were reported as missing from their nursing home, according to Deutsch Welle. Police later found them at 3 a.m., where they were hanging out at Wacken.

UPDATE (8/7, 5:20 p.m. EDT): Unfortunately, it seems the initial reports regarding this story are inaccurate. After the story went viral, German police issued a statement clarifying that the two men in question were actually 58 and 59, and not senior citizens. They had left a home for people struggling with mental health issues, and according to police, the pair had simply planned to party in the town of Wacken, near the eponymous festival, and not at the fest itself. The two men were found "helpless, disoriented and intoxicated" at a bus stop in the town, with police then sending them on a cab ride home some 30 kilometres away.

The men were described as "disoriented and dazed," but they were also reluctant to leave Wacken. Performers on Friday of the fest included Cannibal Corpse, In Flames, Children of Bodom and Nightwish.

"They obviously liked the metal festival," police spokeswoman Merle Neufeld told Norddeutscher Rundfunk. "The care home quickly organized a return transport after police picked them up."

Since they likely won't be leaving again any time soon, here's hoping the two aging thrashers get some metalhead visitors in their home.
