This edition of Can't Miss Concerts details events happening from August 27 to September 2. Read on to see what events you can attend this week, and then check out our concert listings for more. Unless, of course, you're heading back to college this week — you should be home studying.

AC/DC

For three decades, AC/DC have reigned as one of the world's most aggressive wrecking crews. They're promoting their latest LP, Rock or Bust, with a world tour that will reach Canada this week, led by Angus Young and his schoolboy knickers. However, Malcom Young and Phil Rudd will be replaced by Stevie Young and Chris Slade, respectively. Despite the new record and lineup, AC/DC will still deliver their classic anthems, likely finishing with the explosive "For Those About to Rock."

08/31/2015 Montreal, QC – Olympic Stadium

Close Talker

Close Talker are absolute indie-rock darlings, having earned listeners' affections with shiny, peppy tunes and irresistibly atmospheric pieces. Their latest album Flux, made with Canadian super-producer Jace Lasek (Sam Roberts, Young Galaxy, Wintersleep), received nominations for the West Coast Music Awards' Independent Album of the Year and Rock Recording of the Year. Obviously, Close Talker are becoming a hot topic — catch them at one of their three Canadian dates this week.

Camp Wavelength

The good folks of Wavelength, Toronto's longest-running underground music forum, are throwing an end-of-summer celebration on Toronto Island. This inaugural edition of the event, named Camp Wavelength, features an amazing lineup with Holy Fuck, Doldrums, Dirty Frigs, the Wooden Sky, Moon King, Doomsquad, Blonde Elvis, Do Make Say Think, the Weather Station, JOYFULTALK and lots of other favourites.

08/28-30/2015 Toronto, ON – Artscape Gibraltar Point (Toronto Island)

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

Melbourne, Australia's slightly skewed seven-piece King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are making a trip to Canada to perform their neo-psychedelic surf-rock tunes. With six albums under their belts, the band have found a way to warp bugged-out chaos into well crafted compositions; somehow, soulful organs, xylophones, animal whinnies and some unidentifiable sounds come together as harmonious psych-pop. If you find yourself on the West coast this week, go get lost in the sounds of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard.

09/01/2015 Vancouver, BC – Biltmore Cabaret
09/02/2015 Vancouver, BC – Rickshaw Theatre

Mick Jenkins

Chicago MC Mick Jenkins is recognized as one of the most promising lyricists on the come-up. With his latest release, Wave[s], he has eschewed heavy social concepts to explore his sensual and experimental side. The resulting vibrant funk will be on display for the phenom's fans in Toronto and Ottawa this week.

09/01/2015 Toronto, ON – The Hoxton
09/02/2015 Ottawa, ON – Ritual

Ratatat

After four years of tweaking the sonic details of Magnifique, Ratatat mastered the art of six-string electro-hop and dropped the record earlier this summer. Now, the Brooklyn-based duo are touring in support of the mix, and they'll arrive in Canada this week. The show's visuals are as eccentric as the beats, with lights and lasers and sweaty, ecstatic bodies slamming about. If you're in Montreal or Toronto, get to Ratatat's explosive party.

09/01/2015 Montreal, QC – Metropolis
09/02/2015 Toronto, ON – Sound Academy

Twin Shadow

George Lewis Jr., better known by his moniker Twin Shadow, is a man of many talents; as well as being a novelist, songwriter and producer, he's also a terrific showman. Dripping with charm and charisma, the Brooklyn-based artist delivers wavy indie-pop tunes to transfixed fans. Come see Twin Shadow embrace the manic, romantic sentiments of his latest release, Eclipse, when he passes through your city.
