TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek Plans Solo Album as Maximum Balloon

Following in the steps of his busy band-mates, TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek is making the most of his year off from being in one of the world's biggest Brooklyn bands to focus on solo work. Previously, we had caught wind of a mixtape he was making with Aziz Ansari's douchier Raaaaaaaandy alter-ego. Now, Sitek has confirmed a proper solo album is in the works as well.

At this point, details are scarce, but we do know that he will be performing under the moniker Maximum Balloon. With that project, he's apparently working on a full album that will be out via Geffen/Interscope in August. A label spokesperson told Pitchfork that it will feature a "collective of guest vocalists."

Besides those few details, there is little else to report on the project. Fortunately, Dave Sitek is Web 2.0 literate and flexed his social networking skills with a Maximum Balloon Twitter account and pages on both MySpace and Facebook.

As an aside, if you haven't heard the Raaaaaaaaandy/Dave Sitek collaboration, enjoy yourself below.
