Turing Machine Complete Final Album in the Wake of Jerry Fuchs's Death
New York dance rock unit Turing Machine have called the end to an eight-year dry spell by announcing their next album, What Is the Meaning of What. It's their first record since 2004's Zwei, and it comes out May 8 on Temporary Residence Ltd.

According to a press release, recording sessions for What Is the Meaning of What began in 2008, but the project was put on hold after the tragic passing of drummer Jerry Fuchs, who fell down an elevator shaft in 2009. Remaining members Justin Chearno (guitar) and Scott DeSimon (bass) eventually revisited the material and spent much of last year writing and recording the rest of the album.

The 2011 sessions were tracked by Andrew Raposo (Midnight Magic) and Abe Seiferth in Brooklyn, and found a number of friends popping in to add to the recordings. Guests include LCD Soundsystem's Pat Mahoney, Disappears vocalist Brian Case, DJ McNany, and Caito Sanchez (Midnight Magic).

The seven-song outing is described as being driven by hypnotic riffs and "Fuchs' unrelenting grooves," and you can stream first single "Slave to the Algorithm" down below.
