Published Aug 16, 2011There's no doubt that it's been a pretty stellar year for tUnE-yArDs. Following the release and subsequent freak-out for this year's whokill LP, the project's Merrill Garbus has skyrocketed up the indie stardom ranks in 2011. And here's some icing on the cake: Beastie Boy Ad-Rock has remixed her "Gangsta" for a new twelve-inch single.
The single, which will also include a remix by Cut Chemist, is due out via 4AD on September 27 (September 12 in the UK), and you can check out that Ad-Rock redo below.
The press release says the single "takes the hip-hop inspired elements of 'Gangsta' even further," and "like all good old school records, the twelve-inch is completed with not only the original but also with both the instrumental and a cappella versions of the track."
As previously reported, tUnE-yArDs are set to embark on a North American tour, which includes several Canadian dates. You can see the schedule here.
