Published Sep 27, 2013Trip-hop trailblazer Tricky has once again run into visa-related problems, leading the UK figure to rearrange his tour schedule and cancel much of his upcoming North American trek, including a date in Toronto.
The artist's show schedule, which had originally been set to start in June before being postponed until October, was to include a gig at Toronto's Virgin Mobile Mod Club on October 6, but that show and a large stretch of appearances in the U.S. have been scrubbed for the time being.
According to a post on Tricky's website, the trip now hopes to begin on October 19 at San Francisco's Treasure Island Music Festival, with Tricky still playing Asheville, L.A. and a re-arranged date in New York. While a press release notes that Tricky will try to make his way back to North America in 2014, you can see the truncated tour schedule down below.
Tricky's visa problem apparently stem from juvenile offences, including "joyriding and forgery of the crown," but the singer's press team attribute the hold-up to the paper trail between U.S. and UK authorities.
"The most upsetting thing about this, whatever happens, it seems like it's me letting people down," Tricky explained in a statement. "Other people have always dealt with visas for me and it turns out that they've not advised me properly. Now I have been advised that this was going to be straightforward and easily done in time for this tour and now this has happened."
