Trent Reznor Shares His First New Song as How to Destroy Angels

BY Alex HudsonPublished May 4, 2010

Last week, rumours began circulating that Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor would soon be returning with a new band called How to Destroy Angels. This speculation has now been proven true, as Reznor and his band-mate Mariqueen Maandig (who also happens to be his wife) have unveiled their first single under the new name.

The song is called "A Drowning," and it features Maandig singing in a half-whisper over an eerily hissing beat, sparse keyboard tinkling and caterwauling horns. Take a listen over at Pitchfork or in the embedded video below.

The track appears on How to Destroy Angels' self-titled EP, due out this summer. The disc was produced by Alan Moulder, who previously worked on numerous Nine Inch Nails albums, as well as with the Jesus and Mary Chain, Gary Numan, My Bloody Valentine, the Smashing Pumpkins, Blonde Redhead and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Here's the EP's rumoured tracklisting. Consider these track titles tentative until we have confirmation.

How to Destroy Angels:

1. "The Space in Between"
2. "Parasite"
3. "Fur-Lined"
4. "BBB"
5. "The Believers"
6. "A Drowning"
