Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are known for their creepy synth scores, but now they are moving into a more family-friendly realm — they will be scoring the new Pixar film, Soul.

Disney made the announcement at their D23 expo in Anaheim, CA. The voice cast will include Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Daveed Diggs, Questlove (of the Roots) and Phylicia Rashad. It's directed by Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) and will arrive in theatres June 19, 2020.

Foxx will play Joe Gardner, a middle school music teacher and aspiring jazz musician who dies right after scoring his dream gig. The film is largely set in a "You Seminar," an otherworldly place where souls are trained to become individuals.

The official description of the plot is as follows: "Ever wonder where your passion, your dreams and your interests come from? What is it that makes you … you? Soul takes you on a journey from the streets of New York City to the cosmic realms to discover the answers to life's most important questions."

Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor has scored numerous film scores with Atticus Ross, including Bird Box, The Social Network, Gone Girl and more. It remains to be seen whether Soul continues their usual creepy style.
