Treasa Levasseur

Low Fidelity

Toronto, ON-based singer and multitalented player Treasa LeVasseur’s latest album, Low Fidelity, is a lovely collection of original, contemporary blues, with a Canadian take on the Southern sound. Written and performed by Levasseur and produced by David Baxter, her crystal-clear voice has the right balance of breathy passion and the subtlest rum-soaked grit. Her vocal chords shine on tracks like "Talk To Me Babe” and "Truth Will Set You Free.” The clever lyrics on the title track are less about stereo sound and more about cheating, and work on many levels, both comical and true. "Me and My (Big Fat Mouth)” is a soul tune with enough country twang to do well as a crossover hit. Levasseur plays piano, accordion, guitar, mandolin and, of course, sings gloriously on her tremendous album, and in collaboration with a variety of other bands. With stunning work like this, it’s no wonder that she won CBC Radio’s "Ultimate Sideshow Show(person)” title.
