If it seems like former Blink-182 guitarist Tom DeLonge has a head full of dreams, that's because he probably does — according to a new interview, he was trying to turn his long-running pop-punk trio into Coldplay.
The ever busy Travis Barker has been feeling a little sleepy lately, but he still found time to speak with prominent vlogger Mr. Wavvy [via Alternative Press] about Blink-182's first album without DeLonge.
In the video, which is available below, Barker explains that DeLonge was always trying to derail Blink away from its eternally juvenile sound.
"I think Blink is like eternal youth," Barker said. "Mark and I never wanted to change. The last couple of albums, Tom wanted to sound like U2; to record songs that basically sound like Coldplay.
"For us, we were always like, 'Blink is Blink, man. We want to sound like fucking Blink-182,'" he continued. "That's why we're in this band… I never want any of my other side projects to influence Blink. I love Blink for what it is."
Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker are currently working on a new Blink-182 album with the Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba filling in for DeLonge.
