'Transverse Temporal Gyrus' (video)

A new Animal Collective album is on the horizon, but while we wait for the latest music from the beloved experimental pop collective, here's an unexpected treat to tide us over. The band have shared a six-minute video through their Facebook page that comes from Transverse Temporal Gyrus, their 2010 collaboration with artist Danny Perez at the Guggheim Museum in New York.

Filmed by Bobby Boothe and edited by Perez, the mind-warping performance is soundtracked by an unsettling soundscape created by Animal Collective specifically for the event. If you fondly remember the band's early days, back when their music was too bizarre for mass consumption, you'll enjoy these experimental sounds.

Note that this video isn't a performance and the Animal Collective dudes aren't there playing the music live. Watch it here.
