Transmission Gets Set for 2011 Conference, Reveals Festival Lineup with Poirier, Bonjay, Jets Overhead
The long-running Transmission music conference has established itself as an integral meeting place for all corners of the music industry thanks to consistently strong meetings across the globe each year. This year, the festival returns to Victoria, BC with GLOBAL SUMMIT 2011, running from February 9 to 11.

According to a press release, the summit is set up to explore the themes of protection vs. connection, inspiration vs. realization and globalization vs. localization. "The calibre of attendees for this year is simply incredible," director of community development Jonas Woost said in a statement. "The roundtables are definitely going to be a highlight during the conference. Participants understand that the roundtables provide an excellent opportunity to connect with every individual in the room."

The roundtable speakers are promising "gloves off" keynote addresses and interviews. The list of guests include Rob Wells (president of Global Digital Business, Universal Music Group), David Neale (SVP Special Projects, Research In Motion/BlackBerry), Eric Baptiste (CEO, SOCAN), Scott Belsky (CEO and co-founder, Behance) and Wu Jun (CEO, R2G and Wa3.cn). The conference will be hosted by CBC Radio's Nora Young.

In addition to the world-class roundtable discussions, the weekend will incorporate live performances for transmitLIVE 2011. The festival will include performances from "select artists that are at the forefront of connecting content with digital technology." Those artists include Jets Overhead, Gordon Blunt with Blunt Faktory, Ghislain Poirier, Longwalkshortdock, Bonjay, Keys n Krates, Half Moon Run and Todor Kobakov, with more to be announced.
