Trailer for Kanye West's 'Cruel Winter' Emerges Online

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 1, 2012

Kanye West's collaborative Cruel Summer compilation was met with slightly more lukewarm reviews that the mega-famous rapper is used to, but evidently that isn't stopping him from releasing a follow-up. Various hints have indicated that Cruel Winter may be in the works, and now we've gotten some alleged confirmation in the form of a film trailer.

Directed by Austin Christianson, the minute-long clip shows some bleak, wintery nature clips and an extract from a speech by former president George Bush about a "new world order."

Beyond that, the trailer offers no information whatsoever, so we're still not sure when the short film will arrive or if there will be an accompanying album. It's not even confirmed if this trailer is official or sanctioned by Kanye West; Complex tweeted Def Jam Recordings to ask if this is the Cruel Winter trailer, and the label simply responded, "No."

In any case, releasing Cruel Winter as a short film would be consistent with his release strategy for Cruel Summer, which initially premiered as a short film earlier this year at Cannes, prior to the compilation album of the same name.
