Tough Age

'Tough Age Plays cub's Hot Dog Day' (7-inch stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 13, 2015

Tough Age are paying tribute to their Mint Records forebears with Tough Age Plays cub's Hot Dog Day. The 7-inch EP will be available on Record Store Day (April 18), and in the meantime, the full thing can be streamed on Exclaim!

All six tracks here clock in at under two and a half minutes, and each one is a sugar rush of distorted guitars, boppy rhythms and cuddly pop melodies. Tough Age remain faithful to the source material, which means that this is a little cuter than their usual fiery garage rock inclinations.

Scroll past Tough Age's previously announced tour schedule with Energy Slime to listen to the whole thing below.

To illustrate just how faithful Tough Age are to the original tunes, they have also released a video for the track "Nicolas Bragg." The video doesn't feature any original footage — rather, it simply takes cub's video and sets it to Tough Age's audio.

The 7-inch is being pressed on what is being described as "(very-)watery-ketchup-coloured" vinyl in an edition of 300. On Record Store Day, Tough Age will play a hometown in-store gig at Neptoon Records.
