Touché Amoré Rerecord '...To the Beat of a Dead Horse' for 10th Anniversary Reissue

"We wanted the songs to sound like how we've been playing them these last bunch of years"

This August will mark 10 years since Touché Amoré made their debut with ...To the Beat of a Dead Horse, and as part of a forthcoming anniversary reissue, the band rerecorded the entire album to mark the occasion.

Arriving August 9, Touché Amoré's Dead Horse X anniversary edition will feature both the original 2009 album and the 2019 rerecording on two split colour black/white vinyl discs.

The LPs will be housed in a hard bound book, with reimagined cover art from Bart Balboa. The book features 148 pages of photography from the band's own archives, flyers, writings and ephemera, along with a foreword penned by Thursday's Geoff Rickley.

The 2019 rerecording of ...To the Beat of a Dead Horse was recorded by Zach Tuch and mixed by Converge's Kurt Ballou. Tuch served as an engineer on the band's 2018 single "Green." Rickley and Jeff Eaton of Modern Life Is War also rerecorded their guest appearances for the new version.

"You might be asking 'Why re-record this album?' Mostly it's because we physically couldn't remix and remaster the 2009 version due to all the files being lost when the hard drive containing them crashed," the band's Jeremy Bolm explained in a statement. "We also just loved the idea of [drummer Elliot Babin] and [bassist Tyler Kirby] getting to play on this album as they weren't in the band at the time. We wanted the songs to sound like how we've been playing them these last bunch of years. Faster and with more energy. So that's what you get here."

Dead Horse X is limited to 1,500 copies and is available for pre-order here in various bundles. Touché Amoré's last studio album was 2016's Stage Four.
