Following reports that Tory Lanez was responsible for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, the LAPD are now formally investigating the allegations.

Last night (July 16), reports emerged that the Toronto artist was the shooter who put Megan Thee Stallion in hospital after being shoot in the feet twice. Now police are looking into the case further, TMZ reports, adding that detectives have now opened an assault with a deadly weapon investigation.

Lanez has already been charged with possessing a concealed weapon, though he has not been charged with shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

UPDATE (7/17, 6 p.m. ET): Megan Thee Stallion has now broken her silence. And while she has not addressed the allegations against Lanez directly, she has returned to social media to tweet the following: As previously reported, sources close to the investigation claimed it was Lanez who opened fire and allegedly hit Megan Thee Stallion on Sunday (July 12) after they were returning from a party in the Hollywood Hills.

According to reports, an argument started between Lanez and Megan as they were driving home, and when the American artist and her friend Kelsey Nicole reportedly wanted out of the vehicle, that's when shots were fired from inside the SUV.

However, witnesses are reportedly not cooperating with police — something that is complicating the investigation.
