After being found guilty in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case last December, Tory Lanez has now been denied his appeal for a new trial.

"Tory Lanez WILL NOT get a new trial for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion," Los Angeles-based legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff tweeted. "This is according to Judge David Herriford, who ruled from the bench a few minutes ago."

The Canadian rapper filed to appeal his conviction — on counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying an unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm "in a grossly negligent manner" — at the end of March. He faces over 20 years in prison.

"In the end, the jury believed the prosecution's case beyond a reasonable doubt," Judge Herriford reportedly said. Because of the appeal, Lanez's sentencing date has been pushed back multiple times, and a new one has yet to be announced.

Last month, Megan Thee Stallion penned an essay on the three-year legal proceedings for Elle, addressing the trauma "for the final time."
