This summer is shaping up to be a good one for electronic music fans in Toronto. Not only are the VELD and HARD Toronto festivals coming to the city, but Sound in Motion has announced the inaugural instalment of the event.

A press release notes that Sound in Motion "will focus on 'live' electronic music performances and will include a short film showcase, technology exhibits and thought provoking panel discussions." It will take place from July 13 to 15 in various venues around downtown Toronto.

Among the local and international acts who have signed on for the event, which is being presented by Toronto collective StudioFeed, are Sammy Dee, Frivolous, Pheek, Dualism, Konque, Billy Dalessandro, Demas, Arthur Oskan, Matt & Mark Thibideau, Co-Op, Knowing Looks, Yes Ma'am and Cee Cee Cox.

Director John Alexiou said in a statement, "Our mandate is to strengthen the local music ecosystem. The energy present in our 'underground' local scene is massive but we have seen great people leave this city based on a lack of infrastructure and support. We want to help change that."

Early bird passes for the entire festival are available now for $55, and can be bought here. See the festival schedule over at Sound in Motion's official website, although the full details have yet to be filled in.
