Visitors at Toronto's Sonic Boom Records are sometimes treated to in-store performances and wild window displays while digging for their favourites on wax, and while the coronavirus pandemic has closed the store for the foreseeable future, owner Jeff Barber and staff are moving things online.

Today, Sonic Boom has announced the launch of a livestream concert series to run alongside its online store. Featuring Canadian artists who had tour plans cancelled by the pandemic, the series will feature performances broadcasted from Sonic Boom's physical location on Spadina Avenue.

Joseph Shabason will open the series with a performance April 30 at 7 p.m., while Witch Prophet will follow with one of her own on May 7 at 7 p.m. More performers are set to be announced.

"The store has always acted as a conduit between the artists and the community," said Barber in a statement. "During this period of social distancing we want to continue to support the music community and connect with our customers."

Further livestream series and online store details can be found through Sonic Boom's official website.
