Published May 13, 2009For the eighth year in a row, the Over the Top Festival will be taking over the arts community in Toronto from May 21 to 23. And once again, Exclaim! is proud to be a sponsor of this edgy and innovative festival that covers the spectrum of music, film and theatre, having hosted performances by the likes of Daniel Johnston, Grizzly Bear, Silver Apples and Chad VanGaalen in the past.
This year, the festival will bring yet another fresh line-up, as well as some Toronto debuts, including appearances by Tiny Masters of Today, Clues, Woods, the Budos Band, Sebastien Grainger, $100, Think About Life and many others. But aside from music, OTT will also be serving up a number of Toronto and Canadian film premieres, including Tokyo! directed in three parts by directors Michel Gondry, Léos Carax and Bong Joon-ho, Visioneers starring beardy comedian Zach Galifianakis, Don Hertzfeldt's I Am So Proud of You and many more.
As well, continuing its foray into theatre, the festival, in conjunction with the Theatre Centre, is proud to be involved in the presentation of several performances of Michael Rubenfeld and Sarah Stanley's The Book of Judith, which, as we previously reported, will feature music by Andrew Penner of the Sunparlour Players. The festival will also present a series of shorts by local playwrights on May 23 at the Whippersnapper Gallery.
Individual tickets, as well as passes, are now on sale at Rotate This, Soundscapes and Ticketweb.
