Toronto's Old World Vulture Announce Debut Album

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 21, 2012

Back in 2010, we called Old World Vulture's self-titled EP an "immense success," and now the Toronto-based instrumental rock outfit are preparing to follow it up with a full-length. Entitled Trophy Lovers, this debut full-length will be out on July 27.

Recorded at Toronto's AudioLab Recording Company by Chris Hegge (Fucked Up, Meligrove Band), Trophy Lovers boasts everything from electronic textures to brass arrangements.

Drummer Jamie Hunter said in a statement, "After we released the EP, our songs evolved in a more synth-based direction. The new songs are more focused and intricate with a strong emphasis on melody, not just sheer volume and dynamics. We don't want to be confined to any one genre, and want our songs to fit well on a playlist that boasts as much Steely Dan as it does M83. But don't get me wrong, at the end of the day we still want to be the loudest band in the room."

See the tracklist below, and preview the songs "J.R. Flood" and "Trophy Lovers" at the bottom of the page.

The album will be pressed on vinyl, and a free digital download of the entire thing will be made available from the band's website. Expect Old World Vulture to tour in support of the album this summer and fall; for now, they have a release show booked at CineCycle in Toronto on July 27.
