As previously reported, Toronto imprint Buzz Records is jumping into the festival market this June with the launch of its inaugural No Fest. After announcing the first day of programming last month, organizers now confirm that the second day features performances from Massachusetts indie crew Speedy Ortiz, local noise merchants Greys and more.
The fest runs June 17 and 18 at Toronto's Garrison venue, with a press release explaining that the goal "is to pair strong local talent and up and coming international touring acts, with a DIY ethos and a focus on accessibility." While, originally, we'd learned that Chastity Belt, Fake Palms and Twist would be playing the first evening, it's now been revealed that Bad Channels, and Nailbiter will be doing an after-party event at Buzz co-founder Ian Chai's apartment.
For the June 18 finale, organizers have tapped Speedy Ortiz, Greys, Vallens, Casper Skulls and Pet Sun to perform.
"Our concept for No Fest is to provide an alternative to a festival landscape that we feel is largely extrinsic to the music scene in Toronto," Buzz Records' Denholm Whale said in a statement. "We want to bring in bigger acts and make this an event but our goal is to avoid imposing a top down approach to how a festival can work or what it can be, and instead build something that is informed by and reflective of the scene that we are consistently so excited to be a part of."
To keep costs down, advance tickets to each night are going for $12 and will be $15 at the door. A weekend pass will set you back $20. You can pick up tickets and find out more about the first-ever No Fest over here.
