Toronto's Manifesto Festival Announces 2013 Edition

Toronto's Manifesto Festival of Community and Culture has become something of an annual tradition, and the organizers at Manifesto Community Projects have just announced the seventh instalment of the event. It will run from September 19 to 22, culminating in a day-long free concert at Yonge-Dundas Square.

Among the artists included in Manifesto's Live at the Square programming are Freedom Writers, Thugli, Smash Brovas backed by the Juice Water Quartet, Sean Leon, Unbuttoned, and Souls of Mischief. More artists will be announced.

Other attractions include the Manifesto Art Show, the third annual Floor Awards (celebrating urban dance in Toronto), Last Style Standing Battle (featuring dance and interdisciplinary art), the Freshest Goods Market, and various workshops, panel discussions and more.

Manifesto is inspired by hip-hop culture, and a press release notes, "Manifesto Community Projects is a non-profit organization working to unite, inspire and empower diverse communities of young people through arts and culture. Aiming to provide a platform and the resources needed to advance the growth of the arts as a tool for positive change on the individual, community and city level."
