Emissions Record Shop — the Toronto purveyors of punk and hardcore records, located at Brunswick Ave and Harbord Street — is celebrating its first year in business this summer, and organizers have unveiled a trio of events to ring in the first anniversary.

Starting off on July 27, Emissions will host the Toronto premiere of Punk the Capital: The Rise of Punk in Washington, D.C., 1976–1983 at Innis College Town Hall (2 Sussex Avenue). The film by James June Schneider, Paul Bishow and Sam Lavine includes previously unseen footage of the D.C. punk scene, as well as new interviews. Tickets to the screening cost $15.

Emissions will also present a punk photography, poster and flyer exhibition on July 30 at the Innis College Atrium with live music from Hamilton's Night Chill. A tribute to early Toronto and Canadian punk, the exhibit will feature hundreds of original pieces and prints for sale. Featured items will showcase Teenage Head, Demics, Diodes, Forgotten Rebels, Arson, Platinum Blonde, the Government, the Rage, SNFU, DOA, NoMeansNo, the Curse, B-Girls, Viletones, the Ugly, Direct Action, Sudden Impact, Down Syndrome, Pointed Sticks, Youth Youth Youth, Young Lions, Da Slyme and more. Tickets to the exhibition cost $10.

Lastly, the record shop has teamed up with Toronto's Not Dead Yet to present Poison Ruin and Home Front (Emissions' best-selling band since opening in June 2022) at the Garrison on August 1. Tickets are $17.50, and you can get yours here.
