Toronto's Drake Underground Closed Due to Flooding

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 13, 2018

Toronto was pummelled by the rain last week, leaving homes and businesses struggling to combat flash flooding. Unfortunately, the Drake Underground lost the battle to Mother Nature, and has been forced to close as a result of water damage.

The venue, which resides in the basement of the Drake Hotel, has had to cancel all upcoming programs and concerts through October due to the "significant damage" sustained during the storm.

Amongst the upcoming shows that are now in the process of being moved to alternate locations are performances by Let's Eat Grandma, Ziggy Alberts, Mahalia, La Force and Noah Gundersen.

An official re-opening date has yet to be announced, but you can keep an eye out for updates over here at the venue's official website.

The Drake Underground is the only part of the multi-venue building that is affected, though. Management notes that the hotel, lounge, Sky Yard, Café and dining room remain open for business as usual.
