Toronto's Danforth Music Hall Shut Down Due to Unpaid Rent

The Danforth Music Hall, one of Toronto, ON's classiest mid-sized venues and recent site of a pair of surprise Arcade Fire shows, was shuttered and seized this week after the venue's tenants reportedly failed to pay $44,857.86 in rent.

As the Toronto Star reports, a spokesperson for Sterling Bailiffs, Inc. confirmed that the venue's locks were changed earlier this week after it was consigned with a posted notice to terminate the lease.

The heritage building, which had been in operation through its 91 years as a vaudeville theatre, film house and concert venue, was leased to Glyn Laverick and is owned by Electra Films Ltd.

As of yet, no comment has been offered by either Laverick or Electra on the fate of the theatre at 147 Danforth Ave.
