Published Aug 28, 2008The Toronto After Dark Film Festival has just announced its initial line-up of ghoulish cinematic mayhem. From October 17 to 24, the third annual fest will invade city theatres, bringing with it an eclectic mix of horror, sci-fi, action, cult and undefinable films.
Before you start wondering, "I thought Exclaim! only reported on music news, well, on the menu this year you can find the award-winning cult comedy Who is KK Downey?, which follows a pair of failing musicians out to con the world, as well as the indescribable musical Repo! The Genetic Opera, which blends "gothic horror, futuristic sci-fi and rock opera. So there you have it.
Also on the bill are the revenge thriller Red and Tokyo Gore Police, where "samurai sword-wielding cops patrol the streets of a futuristic Tokyo facing an onslaught of bizarrely deformed mutants. Plus, animator Bill Plympton's latest Idiots & Angels, and the undead horror comedy Trailer Park of Terror, along with several others.
Toronto After Dark will be releasing its complete festival lineup and film schedule on September 24, the same day individual tickets go on sale. Festival VIP passes are already available via the festivals website. The pass gives you priority entry to all 17 screenings, including the opening and closing gala screenings and parties.
