Published May 01, 2008In efforts to bring comedy, music and circus acts to the small screen, the Toronto-centric King Kaboom is gearing for its television debut this Saturday. The program, filmed smack dab in the Big Smoke, will bring a hefty load of variety with everything from a serial dramedy and animation to sketch comedy, spoken word and recipes for monster cookies.
Amongst the weird and wild mixture, King Kaboom will also feature a strong musical element, with Toronto-area artists performing live during each of the series 13 episodes. Bands such as Born Ruffians (pictured), the Winks, Laura Barrett and Ohbijou have all participated in some live action for the show, recording two songs each. One will appear on the program, while the other will be posted on the series website, which will also launch this Saturday.
King Kaboom airs May 3 at 11:00 p.m. on Sun TV and each following Saturday. And since staying in is the new going out, pop some corn, cuddle up and get familiar with your old friend, the TV.
