Many of TOPS' music videos have been homemade-looking affairs, but they've upped the production values for their new interactive clip for "Outside."
The visuals for this hazy, "Take My Breath Away"-cribbing dream-pop number from Picture You Staring consist of a website with four separate videos running simultaneously. They all show different perspectives of a similar scene — each with its own pastel palette of soft-focus colours — as singer Jane Penny twirls and sings along. Users can drag and drop the different frames and move them around the screen.
Director Fantavious Fritz said in a statement, "'Outside' is one of my favourite tracks! It carries such sublime simplicity and unity, like a well-curated collage or painting of sounds. This website came out of a desire to experiment with the internet as a medium and visually portray this idea of collage with video / performance. In 'Outside,' the internet serves as a canvas for play with colours, shapes and moving kinetic form, allowing for many different viewings of the piece."
