'Prayer of the Woods' (album stream)

BY Matthew RitchiePublished Sep 30, 2013

Great Lake Swimmers frontman Tony Dekker has left audiences with bated breath ever since the announcement of his first-ever solo LP, Prayer of the Woods, back in early August. But the wait is finally over for the Canadian folk poet's newest set of songs, because you can listen to the album in its entirety on Exclaim.ca a week before its official release on October 8 through Nettwerk Music Group.

Recorded by Justin Nace at St. Brendan's Church in Rockport, ON, Dekker played all of the instruments on the album's rustic 10 tracks, which includes eight original tunes and covers of singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot and '80s new wavers Human Sexual Response.

The album promises to "present a stark portrait of a Canadian troubadour," and you can see how true that statement is by streaming Prayer of the Woods in the player below.

Catch Dekker perform the songs live on his current Canadian tour. You can see all the dates here.
