Tokyo Police Club Unveil Sophomore LP, Share First Single
Early fans of Toronto indie pop quartet Tokyo Police Club could be forgiven for feeling like the band are now on their third album. The overwhelming success of their debut EP A Lesson In Crime and the extent to which the group toured the release made it feel like something closer to an album than an extended-play. But officially, 2008's Elephant Shell was their debut, which makes Champ, due June 8 from Mom + Pop, their second album.

TPC front-man David Monks posted a blog entry recently, announcing the album's completion and explained its sound. He wrote, "It has eleven songs, a disney character, fuzzy bits, canadian spelling, hockey sound effects, me singing the lowest note in my range, one (1) saxophone note. and if all this makes you think that we're rereleasing a tribute to the score of Disney's The Mighty Ducks, then you may not be entirely off the mark."

If you'd like to hear what that sounds like, Tokyo Police Club are now streaming the first single, "Breakneck Speed," at the band's official site here.

You could also check out the group on their massive tour beginning April 6. Tokyo Police Club will kick things off with some shows in southern Ontario and a stop at Coachella before touring the hell out of Europe and most of the United States with Passion Pit.
