Todd Rundgren is gearing up to drop his guest-heavy LP White Knight next month, and before it arrives, the rock vet has shared a collaborative cut with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross titled "Deaf Ears," which arrives alongside a video.

Rundgren's self-directed clip for the song is full of evocative shots of nature, punctuated by shots of cities and his manipulated voice singing, "we reenact the Hunger Games, it's raining ashes."

"It's a depressing time, so sometimes depressing times call for confrontational material," he told NPR. "Facing up to reality is a pain. And it does have a contemporary element, especially as the EPA has been taken over by disbelievers. The principal theme for me of 'Deaf Ears' is, of course, the destruction we're doing to our own habitat.

Rundgren also described working with Reznor as a "terrific" process, telling NPR that both the Nine Inch Nails leader and his new bandmate in Ross had sent him "an entire album's worth of ideas."

White Knight will arrive on May 12 through Cleopatra.
