Published Jul 29, 2014Vancouver cassette label 1080p continues to reign over all things weird in the world of electronic music. Up next is an EP from Tlaotlon, which you can stream in full now.
Called Ektomists, the four-track effort brings some strange sounds from Down Under. Coming courtesy of the project of Melbourne-based producer Jeremy Coubrough, it's a collection of bizarre synth experiments, sample-based noise freak-outs and deconstructed techno.
A press release for the EP explains that Coubrough made the songs on a new computer, exploring "a new kind of narcotically euphoric virtuality on a new machine, with added synthetic stimulation from a new e-cigarette. For Ektomists, the vapour flavour of choice was Redbull; thick plumes of smoke in front of dual 24-inch monitors displaying several new processes in the Tlaotlon sound."
It all makes a little more sense if you hit play below. Ektomists arrives today (July 29) via 1080p.
