"That's Not My Name"

It’s not hard to see or hear why this English duo from Salford's Islington Mill are currently being courted by just about every A&R person in their country, and big-upped by the likes of Rick Rubin, Noel Gallagher and Steve Lamacq. Known for throwing legendary, "had to be there” house party gigs, the team of guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Katie White and drummer Jules De Martino (formerly of doomed indie trio Dear Eskimo) radiate the same kind of energy that found everyone in Nelly’s "Hot in Herre” next to naked. This debut single released on indie label Switchflicker will no doubt get everyone dropping comparisons to M.I.A. to CSS to the Pipettes to the Gossip, largely because it’s teeming with sass and intended for the same sweaty clubs, and I guess, because it actually does sound an awful lot like the sum of those four acts combined. I guess they’re a bit like Voltron in that sense then…
