Tinariwen Team Up with TV on the Radio, Nels Cline and Dirty Dozen Brass Band for New LP

Following the release of their 2009 album Imidiwan: Companions, former Sahara armed rebels and current forward-thinking band Tinariwen have announced the details of their next full-length effort.

The release is called Tassili, and a press release explains that the band chose to avoid electric guitars for the record, instead utilizing acoustics and unamplified percussion as they recorded in a protected region of the south-eastern Algerian Desert. During the recording sessions, they were joined by TV on the Radio's Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone. Later, Wilco guitarist and famed improviser Nels Cline added some guitar work, and horns were provided by the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

Anti- Records will release Tassili on August 30. Prior to that, the band will embark on a North American tour that includes Canadian stops at the Winnipeg Folk Festival and the Vancouver Folk Music Festival. All dates are available below.
